NOT a food blog
I’m a char siu slut. I love all types of char siu (barbequed pork). But the best ones are usually the ones that are sweet (but not necessarily sticky like, say, the one found in Salak South), slightly charred and melt-in-your-mouth. Now how does one explain “melt-in-your-mouth” in relation to meat? Well, imagine that you’re toothless. This type of meat doesn’t require much chewing, but slowly disintegrates in your mouth as you bite (not literally, if you’re toothless, but I suppose you can use your gums in such a case!) into the tender char siu bits.
Boo_licious introduced a wonderful char siu to me. It fulfilled all my criteria for good char siu, and life has never been the same since.
Another great find at this kopitiam is hakka mee. The dish looks simple enough. Yellow, egg noodles covered with minced pork and topped with chopped spring onions. Don’t be misled by the appearance. Despite its simplicity, this is one tasty dish.
One can also find good fishballs here. Pillow-soft, I have no complains about the fishballs.

what do u call a “male char siu slut” then? find the term and i m one..lol.

i dont deny that KL boast a lot of great food, but u must realize that it is all imported from other towns/states.
no wor, so far to me, a “slut” is only meant for WOMEN.
Lyrical Lemongrass
September 3rd, 2007 at 7:49 pm
k.t.x:
let’s put it this way. the food that’s been brought in from other states have been improved, so that explains why KL has such good food. 😛 Other states may have their speciality, but KL shouldn’t be looked down on when it comes to good…no, great….food. 🙂
As for the use of the word slut, you’re asking for trouble, aren’t u? I’ll refrain from commenting on that one. 🙂

The char siew looks so luscious…never had non-red-colored char siew before ler!
The hakka mee – loved the minced pork with noodles. In S’pore, I think it’s called Bakchor mee…with minced pork and sometimes with a dash of black vinegar.

No big deal-the char siew is not as good as the one at the Sect 17 PJ wantan mee stall. The shop is dirty and the service disorganized.
This blogger was “paid” or not such a discerning food critic, I think

Anonymous (?): Do realise that one man’s meat is another man’s poison, and no matter how good (or bad) a restaurant is, there will always be differing opinions. Have never professed to be a “food critic”, though. 😛 Will check out the PJ Sect 17 wantan mee stall as I’m always on the lookout for a good char siew. Thanks for the recommendation! Oh, btw, I’m not paid to do food reviews. Which is why I end up poor every month.
