But isn’t that what holidays are for? We slept in until 12 noon. We slept a lot.
.
Like all good tourists, we visited the temples. They were spectacular. I’d love to have met the architect and the interior designer.
.
The intricacy of the detailing…..
.
And the earnestness of the worshippers…..
.
Left us feeling insignificant.
.
Overwhelmed, we sat on the floor and watched the world go by.
.
We whiled away our time creating imaginary stories of people who would never be a part of our lives.
.
Bangkok captivated us with its sights…..
.
Colours…..
.
Art…..
.
Serenity….
.
Spice….
.
Smells….
.
And food.
.
All real reasons to love this amazing city.
.
But like old shoes…..
.
I still missed the familiar. And Wong Kee siew yoke from Pudu.
There’s no food like Malaysian food.

*sigh* good to be home yar? Can’t tell you how much I missed my Bak Kut Teh and Char Kuey Teow’s when I was there…Glad you liked my adopted city !

Bangkok is one of my fav city and I don’t think there’s anything wrong to sleep in till 12 noon when you are holidaying 🙂 Spectacular shots as always.

I still think Thai food is pretty good but there seems to be a better selection in the Malaysian cuisine as you have different styles to choose from (you know…Indian, Malay, Chinese etc). Bank here in Norway the Thai food is becoming quite common. I think there are about 4-5 Thai restaurants just in tiny Stavanger…but no Malaysian restaurant so far 🙂 Glad to hear that you had a great time in Bangkok. When I went there I left Olav by the pool and I went out walking across Bangkok. I just love walking the streets looking at everything…and nothing 🙂

my husband want to know what kind of camera do you have.
it’s really very beautiful.and you are like us, we sleep a lot on vacation.we even miss the pope giving mass in rome.we took pics of the same but yours are lot better.

some excellent photos in your post. really like the artistic touches in some of your shots. and i agree that bangkok is a truly amazing and marvelous city. i guess it could do with a lot less pollution- really pity those traffic wardens though- it’s been documented that their life spans are significantly (20-30%) less than normal thais due to the daily intake of smog and fumes.
what’s amazing for me is that almost everyone seems plasticly polite. despite the chaos, it feels like a city that’s much safer than kl.

anyway, Bangkok’s a fun city, where the endless options of things to do can fill any itinerary, be it a foodie, shopaholic, camwhore, avid photographer, and erm, dark shady characters. haha …

I would never ask that question because like you said, isn’t that what vacations are about? I am totally into the slow-pace kind of activity while on vacation, sleeping in, lazing around, wandering about at my leisure and just chilling.

ai wei: actually, BKK is very very affordable. Look out for good deals on Air Asia. Their package with accom is pretty good.
Precious Pea: You are the queen of travelling. I am sure you won’t waste time sleeping when you can be out there trying the goodies instead. hehe.

What an amazing trip and wonderful perspective. Your photographs give such a different angle and perspective, something i don’t see very often on most blogs. Thank you for your story telling journalism and genius.
Oh, and one more thing…I just love betal leaves like the one you ate! I just found some plants and am growing them now! Hopefully the So Cal weather will be kind to them.

OMG girl!!! You, too, you slept in a lot??? Hahahaha! I was there from 28/6 to 5/7, you, too? 😉 I’d really really meant to go into the temples but the moment a tout set upon me and my guy, it just made me wonder why the temple needed to be touted, haha! So I only managed the less significant ones, terrible, huh? Perfect reason to go back again! 🙂 Love everything about Bangkok, and regret not taking photos as gorgeous as yours!
